  • Originated from Hurricane Katia
  • Nearly 70% school in Scotland closed
  • Winds of up to 80mph (137km/h) swept across western Scotland and the central belt.
  • In the Highlands, wind speeds were even higher with gusts of 165mph recorded at Cairn Gorm (tempat main ski dulu).
  • The high winds also closed tourist attractions including Edinburgh Zoo, Edinburgh Castle and the Midlothian Snowsports Centre at Hillend.
  • Forth, Tay, Skye and Erskine road bridges were closed. Traffic queued up to 20 miles at Kirkaldy bridge.
  • Tay Rail Bridge was also closed.
  • Trains were set a speed limit of 50mph.
  • At least 60,000 homes were left without power after lines were blown down in a number of regions.
  • Heavy rain as much as 50mm (2in) to 100mm (4in) expected in places.
