'Must-do' drive in Western Scotland
1)
The A82 Inverness past Loch Ness: very
nice - DONE
2)
but there is a dive that beats it hands down and is arguably even
more scenic than the drive thru glencoe
Fort
william - kyle of lochalsheith - mallaig (cross by ferry) - skye
Touring
skye
Skye
(via bridge) - Kyle of Lochalsh
OR,
3)
alternatively drive north from fort william then head wesy to kyle of
lochalsh
-
this is a stunning drive but it just keeps getting better....
Kyle
- via Plocton – Loch Carron – Applecross – Torridon –
Shieldaig – Diabaig – Kinlochewe – Ullapool/Inverness
round loch carron then head back to the coast towards Torrridon
round loch carron then head back to the coast towards Torrridon
but
leave the 'main' road and take the hill pass to applecross
then
hug the coast back to the 'main road'
take
the time to drive into shieldaig - there is a cafe that does great
ice cream and a pub with a terrace with wonderful views
continue
on to torridon where take the time to drive to diabaig and back
then
onto kinlochewe and then depending on your time constraints head
either to ullapool or inverness
the
area from kyle to torridon is wester ross and it is just wonderful
- Not Yet
depending on your time and so on another great drive is from fort william south to oban, continue south but take the time to drive across'the bridge over the atlantic' to the isle of seil
then
on via the crinan canal to lochgilphead then inveraray and
the-rest-and-be=thankful back towards loch lomond
